This season, Original Penguin presents ‘Mix Tape’, an optimistic stylistic personalisation of eclectic references from a multitude of decades and sub genres to create a modern and unique aesthetic.
Influenced by the nostalgic eighties and nineties Original Penguin Mix Tape mixes simple colour blocking, unapologetic branding and retro video stripes. The colour block jacket and engineered striped tee encapsulates nineties Americana style with a modern twist. We see opposing patterns thrust together on re-formed shapes and silhouettes. Wrong is right, as we unconsciously embrace a chaotic medley of alluring anti-taste. Eighties sport references are juxtaposed with nineties casual and modern lifestyle. The brand has also extended its CORE offering of heritage chinos and polos in an array of bold colors, including impatiens pink, primrose yellow, shady glade, dresden blue and more.
Digital Dobby is a mixture of eighties pixelated gaming moments and pastel hues. Original Penguin introduces a variety of throwback geometric patterns that are mixed with transeasonal fabrics, straight-hems and knitted shirts to create a subtle modern prep feel. Detailed branding is added to the hems of Original Penguin staples for a fun, vintage look.
The third and final delivery of Spring merges metropolitan-inspired Indigo Beach with traditional coastal style for modern beachwear. The brand’s tropical floral print shirt pairs with the chambray stripe shorts continuing the Indigo Beach theme. True to the mixtape motif, Original Penguin’s key swim pieces include cassette and computer-print trunks in mock orange, ambrosia, tender yellow, flame and blue topaz.
