There is nothing more enjoyable than a full-on active facial to help boost your skin, and right before Christmas I visited Bella and Me in Maynooth, for an Environ Facial with the fantastic Co-Owner Mary.
The team at Bella and Me are a multi-disciplined team of beauty therapists and facialists who are friendly and welcoming. The ultra-professional Bella and Me is already a multi award winning salon and they have a massive focus on skin.
They carry Environ, Image and Advanced Nutrition. They have several treatment rooms and a lovely reception area. They use an efficient booking system and parking is free. Because of their location they get a lot of commuter appointments and are booked out quite well in advance.
I was very impressed when I saw the before and after shots of some of their long-term clients who had visited the salon with such concerns as acne, pigmentation and of course the age-old problems of fine lines and wrinkles.
The day I visited there were lots of clients and the salon was buzzing. The clients all seemed happy with the services and familiar with the team members, something I think that is important Mary was able to show me the original couple of rooms they started in and how they have grown. The salon is spotless with the best standards across the board for hygiene and customer comfort.
My Treatment
Environ Skin Care is a globally recognised professional skin care brand that was created on the belief that skin has life, and that vitamin A is the “oxygen” it needs to look beautiful and healthy. That’s why Environ specifically focuses on formulating vitamin A based skin care products Rated amongst the top five plastic surgeons in the world, Dr. Fernandes combined his experience with his idea for incorporating vitamin A into all different types of skin care products to create Environ Skin Care in 1990, which makes it 30 years old this year.
Environ Skin Care is cruelty free. According to founder, “We have never tested and will never test on animals. Environ Skin Care products are tested on human animals only. The first ‘guinea pig’ is always myself; I believe that since the whole range represents my philosophy on the best way to treat skin, it should firstly be shown to be safe by me from personal experience
The treatment that I had was an Electro-sonic ESSENTIAL TREATMENTS followed by some time under the Dermalux LED mask.
Environ’s pioneering dual electro-sonic technology sets the benchmark for professional skincare treatments. Low frequency sonophoresis together with pulsed iontophoresis in combination with Environ’s professional skin care products, help deliver more of what skin needs where it needs it most – making a real lasting impression on your skin.
The treatment is not a typical facial, focusing more on results than relaxation. Having said that the room was lovely and the heated bed a welcome addition during the cold spell. Mary was able to also prescribe a skin care regimen and some Advanced Nutrition supplements to help me with my concerns, which at 40 are fairly standards, pigmentation, fines lines and dullness. Add psoriasis into the mix and you have a case for some high-grade skincare. The Environ products are affordable (I always factor in cost per use and you don’t need to use a lot), yet premium in terms of results and texture. Skin EssentiA is the first step, it is perfect for anyone that enjoys a gel texture. The Environ system is like rungs on a ladder, you need to start on the bottom, and you progress through the system once your skin adapts.
LED Phototherapy is based on the principle that living cells can absorb and are influenced by light and the treatment has long been recognised for its regenerating and anti-inflammatory properties. The treatment involves exposing the skin to low levels of this beneficial light energy from the visible and infrared part of the light spectrum which energise cellular functions to stimulate various cellular processes with therapeutic effects. Skin cells that are energised function better and regenerate faster which in turn leads to younger, healthy and radiant skin.
After my treatment my skin felt supple and looked glowing. Everything just applied better including my makeup. I got loads of compliments on my skin and the supplements helped with hydration during December which is a big social month for me!
Overall, I cannot recommend Bella and Me enough. My only problem is that they are in Maynooth and not closer to Cork, however I will make time for another trip soon.
