It has been announced today that the interactive STEM experience for kids and families, ‘Dream Tomorrow Today’, will open in the Theatre of Light in the Spoint Square on July 1st. The exhibition is toured internationally by Flying Fish, known for its commitment to bringing innovative educational experiences to audiences worldwide. The experience invites children to embark on a journey into the future, exploring innovative technologies, groundbreaking ideas, and imaginative concepts that could shape the world of tomorrow. STEM refers to activities and experiences that engage participants in the fields of Science, Technology, engineering, and mathematics. By engaging our youth in these subjects in a fun, hands-on way, experiences like this have been proven to increase their interest in these subjects. The experience is currently touring the world, coming to Dublin from Canada (where it sold over 190,000 tickets), and is with us here until September.

Attendees are taken on a multi-sensory adventure, encountering interactive exhibits, thought-provoking installations, and engaging performances designed to inspire, provoke thought, and spark conversations about the possibilities of the future. From virtual reality simulations to interactive art installations, ‘Dream Tomorrow Today’ offers a glimpse into what the future might hold across various fields such as technology, sustainability, art, and more.

“STEM experiences like this have been shown to be effective in increasing children’s interest in STEM subjects,” says Jay Brown, Principal & Managing Director of Flying Fish.  “Research suggests that hands-on, interactive learning experiences can have a positive impact on students’ attitudes toward STEM fields and their motivation to pursue further study and careers in these areas.”

Jay also makes the point that “by actively engaging with STEM materials and tools, children gain a deeper appreciation for the subject matter and are more likely to develop a lasting interest. This experience often ignites a child’s passion for STEM subjects and inspires them to pursue further study and careers in these fields.”

Speaking about the exciting new family-friendly experience arriving to Dublin, Dan Gleeson, co-owner of the Dublin Space Theatre of Light, which will host the event, says:

“For our kids, this is a truly unforgettable experience that challenges perceptions, stimulates curiosity, and fosters a sense of wonder about the endless possibilities of tomorrow. Dream Tomorrow Today is not just an event; it’s an exploration of the potential for innovation and progress in the years to come. Planting these seeds now among our youth”.

“The fun activities and various zones are designed to encourage curiosity, problem-solving, critical thinking, and creativity while exploring concepts and principles from across the STEM subjects. Throughout this experience, participants have the opportunity to engage with cutting-edge technologies, learn about scientific discoveries, experiment with engineering principles, and explore mathematical concepts in a fun and interactive way that kids love”.

Dan Gleeson continues: “STEM exploration experiences like this aim to inspire interest and enthusiasm for STEM subjects, particularly among young people, by demonstrating their relevance to real-world challenges. ‘Dream Tomorrow Today’ can help participants develop essential skills for success in an increasingly technology-driven world. And crucially, dramatically help to increase interest in these subjects at school.”.

By actively participating in the exhibition’s activities, young learners discover practical ways to improve their ‘Planet Power’ scores and, in turn, contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world. “Children and adults of all ages will engage in joyful learning. Children slide into the future, weave new places to hang out, clean up “trash” in a ball pit “lake,” build new inventions in a Maker Space, use Augmented Reality to build a city, and shop at a futuristic grocery store. There is truly an experience for everyone, and everyone matters.” said Meredith Doby, Vice President of Exhibits at The DoSeum.

Central to the exhibition’s vision is “Planet Power” – a comprehensive metric encompassing health, happiness, nature, and equality. By actively participating in the exhibition’s activities, young learners discover practical ways to improve their Planet Power scores and, in turn, contribute to a more sustainable and equitable world.

‘Dream Tomorrow Today’ celebrates each child’s unique potential to effect positive change. Upon completing the challenges and activities, visitors are rewarded with personalised STEM identities, reinforcing the skills and knowledge acquired throughout the experience. These identities serve as a reminder that their contributions, no matter how big or small, can transform the future.
