As a famous actress, how do you keep the balance between work and home?

Just a conscious decision to be present in the moment really, whether you’re spending time with family or whether you’re at work. If we spend 40 hours or more working a week, it’s nice to be aware that some quality time should be dedicated to spending it with loved ones without work entering the equation.

Who is your style icon?

Having spent time in LA, I quite like the Californian, relaxed style; faded denim jackets, beachy hair. I also like Shay Mitchell, who I had the privilege of meeting, and how she switches it up continually from casual, to sporty, to full on glam. I wouldn’t say I have one style icon, more a medley of influences from travel and different cultures. The Asians have such great tailoring and lines, so I’d say overall, it’s an eclectic mix.

You love fitness and health. What is your typical routine?

I try to get to the gym for a fitness class or solo workout three times a week. It varies depending on my work schedule. Nutrition-wise I try to include as much plant-based food as possible, with fish and other lean proteins, and beans too.

Did you always want to act?

I did a play in transition year, a small part, and loved it. I didn’t know I’d ever have the confidence to do it until I decided to start to study it, while I was teaching science and maths – only for that reason, to study it – and then fell in love with the craft.

How do you begin and end your day?

Apple cider vinegar, green tea, grapefruit. I usually end my day with a tea and some online browsing of ideas, Pinterest, TED talks and beyond!

To what do you attribute your success?

Quiet self-belief, hard work, and dedication to an idea.

How do you best network?

By being myself and being interested in others.

How do you manage stress?

A buffet approach. Things like reiki at Creative Spa Ballymount, meditation, workouts, quiet church time, travel.

What ignited your spark?

Taking that first brave step and feeling the adrenalin, the reward.

Tell me about your best and worst days at work?

When you do a scene and you go to place you’ve not been before, you ride that rollercoaster and just experience it. I wouldn’t say there are ‘worst days’, I’d more say there’s days when I learned how to do things better next time.

What do you do when you’re not at work?

Continually try and organise my wardrobe! I also quite like baking these days – a new hobby! I like to try out new plant-based dinner recipes too.

What are your hidden inspiration sources?

If I said that, they wouldn’t be very hidden! Inspiration is often in the people I surround myself with. They continue to inspire me.

How do you generate innovative ideas?

Brainstorming by myself or with others, reading and travel.

If you could talk to one person from history, who would it be and why?

Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson and Maureen O’Hara. They’re all just exceptionally talented, innovative, iconic and treaded their own paths. I’d imagine I’d sit and just listen for hours if I had the chance.
