Realising dreams and training stylists… Debbie talks to us about her Montana Blu vision…

This new, modern, independently run Salon and Academy is under the personal supervision of Mrs. Debbie O’Keeffe Crinnion, who is a member of the Association of British and International Hair Schools and Hairdressers and a proud member of the Irish Hairdressers Federation. Debbie has studied under many well recognised names in the industry such as Peter Marks, Jeff Define, Toni & Guy to name but a few. She has been successful in receiving various awards including the L’Oréal Colour Specialist of the Year. Debbie uses her vast knowledge of hairdressing to help guide and train any student who would like to take up hairdressing as a career. With the help of expert staff, the Academy has put together a program to help you learn the art of hairdressing over a period of 8 months by day or 12 months by night.

What does the award win mean for you?

Winning the Hi Style Award for Most Stylish Academy 2018 is a huge achievement for me, particularly only 13 months after opening our doors. It is a testament to the support we have received from the local community, staff, family & close friends. People are aware of the work we have put in over the last 13 months but what they may not be aware of is the 20+ years preceding that. It has been a long road, self-development, years of educating myself, hard work & big dreams. This award confirms for me that all of that has not been in vain. This is only the beginning for Montana Blu & I am very excited about the future.

As most stylish, describe your style.

From a cosmetic point of view, I would say our academy is fresh & contemporary, however I believe style is so much more than an image. It’s an attitude. In Montana Blu, we take our industry very seriously. We have a no-nonsense approach to education, but we blend this seriousness with a fun-loving attitude. We want our students to reach their full potential & enjoy every minute of their journey with us. We want them to land in the hairdressing world ready and capable, with both the confidence and know how.

How/where will you be displaying your award?

My award takes pride of place & is very eye-catching, displayed on my product display cabinet. I want everyone that walks through our doors to know that we are award winning and I am so proud we got the recognition we deserve.

Who would you like to thank?

First & Foremost, I would like to thank my husband Alan who has been my rock. Alan has been by my side every step of the way. From being a fantastic emotional support to literally transforming a shell of a unit into the magnificent academy we have today, I couldn’t have done it without him.

I would like to thank my children for being so patient & understanding. They help in any way they can & I’m so incredibly proud of them.

I would like to thank my family & friends. My first-year students for choosing me & being a part of my journey.

I would like to thank my team for tolerating my craziness, think they understand that creativity is sometimes madness.

And finally, I would like to thank Garry of The Great British Barber Bash for loving our vibes as much as we love his
