A new trend in permanent personal adornment, welded jewellery, is now exclusively available in the south east, in Lu & Mol’s in Gorey.

A choice of silver and gold chains can be attached to the body, as one continuous chain that cannot be taken off, and doesn’t have a clasp.  The permanent jewellery is ideal for anyone who is forgetful, who misplaces bracelets or necklaces, who likes a perfect fit, or who dislikes necklace clasps that uncomfortably creep around to the front.

The option is popular for anklets, especially in summertime, and people can choose to curate their wrist completely with different welded bracelets and charms.  Chains in a variety of styles, in solid gold, silver and gold-filled links are available to select from, at various price points.

The jewellery is easily rewelded if it catches on something and breaks, and is easily snipped off, with scissors, if needed.  The process is completely safe and pain-free, and anyone over the age of ten can have permanent jewellery.

Wexford’s Áine Breen, a talented jewellery designer and silversmith who makes Liwu Jewellery, set up Lu & Mol’s jewellery and gift shop on Upper Esmonde Street in Gorey one year ago.

Welding appointments happen in the new private studio in Lu & Mol’s, where ear piercing is also available for earlobes and cartilage.   Children, from age six, can have ear-piercing, and a goodie bag with a teddy and jellies, as well as a Super Brave certificate, is part of the service.

The popular Gorey gift store has legions of fans for its novel giftware which includes bespoke jewellery, bags, candles, journals, caskets and gift-cards.
