While the original fragrance is defined by its invigorating floral freshness, ACQUA DI GIÒ PARFUM introduces a new, extreme freshness to the collection. This is expressed in top notes that comprise a refined bergamot heart, which balances a sparkling brightness with an aromatic, floral facet, combined with the intensity of marine notes.
At the heart is a fusion of geranium bourbon heart, rosemary essence, and clary sage heart. The geranium bourbon heart creates an intense and multifaceted effect, with its blend of fruity facets and herbaceous aromas, while the clary sage heart evokes sparkling floral and fruity tones. The rosemary essence, meanwhile, conjures a contemporary, fresh, and spicy effect. These notes create a mood of modernity and dynamism, that reinvents ACQUA DI GIÒ’s iconic aromatic signature.
Notes of vibrant woods, conveying smokiness and elegance, characterize the fragrance’s base. Giorgio Armani strives to prioritize the inclusion of purposefully sourced ingredients when creating fragrances. Since 2020, all the fragrances that have debuted within the MY WAY, ACQUA DI GIÒ, and ARMANI CODE collections have counted sustainably sourced ingredients among their composition.
Within ACQUA DI GIÒ PARFUM the sustainably sourced ingredients are the bergamot heart from Calabria, Italy; clary sage heart from Provence, France; geranium bourbon heart from Madagascar; and patchouli essence from Guatemala.
Sourced in Guatemala, the patchouli essence is obtained through solidarity sourcing programs. These programs guarantee decent working conditions and fair prices for farmers, while supporting the local community with essential primary needs.
NATURAL INGREDIENTS, FINELY CRAFTED
The natural ingredients within ACQUA DI GIÒ PARFUM are crafted using meticulous extraction methods, ensuring exceptional ingredients of a unique quality.
The bergamot heart from Calabria is derived from bergamot fruits hand-picked at their optimal balance of freshness and maturity. A specialty of Calabria, the bergamot are extracted using a machine that gathers the fruits’ peel and collects the essence via a cold expression method. The essence then undergoes a fractionation process, to ensure an extract of the most refined quality.
Cultivated in Provence, the clary sage heart essence is obtained by steam distilling the clary sage flowers and stems. The essence is then fractionated, with only the finest fractions blended into the final ingredient.
The geranium bourbon heart is sourced in Madagascar, where it is harvested by hand. Its leaves are distilled next to the field in which they are grown, to ensure optimal freshness and a rich olfactory extraction. A hydro-distillation and fractionation process distills the leaves, allowing their most floral, fresh aspects to be selected, revealing a multifaceted, herbaceous, and aromatic note.

Its functional refill system allows the original 75ml spray bottle to be refilled seamlessly, without using a funnel. To do so, the 150ml refill bottle is turned upside down, to decant the fragrance into the original bottle, without losing a drop.
Refilling ACQUA DI GIÒ PARFUM’s 75ml spray bottle demonstrably reduces raw material use: 41% less glass is used, 7% less plastic, 23% less paper, and 67% less metal*.

PROTECTING VITAL FORESTS
Climate change is a major factor adversely affecting biodiversity. The increase in the global average temperature is attributed to a rise in greenhouse gas emissions resulting from human activity, also known as carbon – or CO2 – emissions.
Trees inhale carbon dioxide and exhale oxygen as they grow, making planting and preserving forests vital actions in protecting the environment. Doing this allows carbon dioxide to be absorbed from the atmosphere and oxygen to be released in its stead.
To contribute to a continual, sustainable transformation, Giorgio Armani is focusing its sustainability efforts on reducing the brand’s carbon footprint. Since 2019, Giorgio Amani has supported five forest preservation programs located across five countries: Zimbabwe, Brazil, Indonesia, and Peru. Through these programs, near 16,000 hectares of forest have been preserved. This has resulted in the sequestration of more than 43,000 tons of carbon dioxide, achieved as the trees capture carbon dioxide through photosynthesis.
To mark the debut of ACQUA DI GIÒ PARFUM, Armani beauty adds its support to a further forest preservation program in Guatemala, where the fragrance’s patchouli is sourced. The Lacandón Forests for Life program is located in the Sierra del Lacandón National Park, in Guatemala’s Selva Maya Corridor. This area encompasses the second most extensive continuous tract of tropical rainforests in the Americas, after the Amazon.
The project protects against deforestation in the region via sustainable forest management and controlling illegal timber extraction. It also strives to improve the livelihoods of communities within the National Park and its surrounding areas. Among its initiatives are promoting strengthened governance through cooperatives and supporting a sustainable economic model through workshops that raise environmental awareness.
Since its inception, the program has guaranteed the preservation of 98 hectares of forest and has captured 517 tons of CO2 in Guatemala.
