The 98FM Best of Dublin Awards 2024 returned with a bang, hosted at The Dean Townhouse amidst glitz and glamour. This star-studded event honored 12 outstanding winners who clinched their coveted 98FM Best of Dublin Award.
Since its inception in 2014, the 98FM’s Best of Dublin Awards has been a hallmark of recognition for businesses and individuals across Dublin, as voted by devoted 98FM listeners. This year’s edition witnessed unprecedented engagement, with over 60,000 votes cast across 12 categories. The six-week-long Best of Dublin campaign, spanning 98FM broadcasts, social media platforms, and a city-wide advertising blitz, generated immense enthusiasm and participation.
The evening kicked off with a captivating performance by drag sensation Dame Stuffy, setting the stage for an electrifying event. Hosted by 98FM Big Breakfast presenters Rebecca and Brendan, the ceremony unveiled winners in categories ranging from Best Dublin Breakfast to Best Dublin Takeaway.
The atmosphere reached fever pitch during the interval with an exhilarating dance anthems set by the dynamic Riff Shop, captivating the audience. The night continued with hosts Brian Dowling and Suzanne Kane announcing deserving winners such as comedian Darren Conway for Best Dublin Celebrity and Dublin Zoo for Best Family Experience.
A highlight of the evening was the ‘Best Dublin Moment’ award, clinched by the infamous ‘hole in Portmarnock’. This quirky incident, where a mysterious hole on Portmarnock beach sparked nationwide intrigue before being revealed as a local prank, captured the city’s imagination.
Introducing a new category, ‘Best Mate’, the awards recognized the unsung heroes in our lives. Brian Anderson’s heartfelt nomination of his wife, Elizabeth, as his best mate garnered admiration. Elizabeth, a dedicated healthcare assistant, was hailed for her unwavering support as a wife, mother of three, and grandmother of two.
Pat Gill, 98FM Managing Editor, lauded the event, remarking, “98FM brings Dublin’s Good Times and this really is Dublin at its finest.” He commended the passion and energy of Dubliners in supporting local businesses and individuals, extending congratulations to all the winners and nominees.
The 98FM Best of Dublin Awards 2024 was more than just an event; it was a celebration of Dublin’s vibrant community spirit and the remarkable talents that define the city’s essence.
