Meet the new Irish sun protection brand designed to make daily SPF application effortless and nourishing. Created by Dublin beauty entrepreneur Amelia Slattery, Solas Skin is on a mission to make year-round SPF use part of everyone’s everyday skincare routines.
“Growing up in Ireland, with very pale skin that was prone to sunburn, I was always conscious of the risk of sun damage but didn’t like the feel of SPF on my sensitive skin,” says Amelia Slattery, Founder and CEO of Solas Skin. “Looking at my bathroom shelf, I noticed all the products I used were not made in Ireland.
“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in this country so I felt it was about time a brand was designed specifically to meet the unique needs of Irish customers, while raising awareness of the importance of daily SPF use all year long – whatever the weather.”
Having started her career in the beauty industry in London, Amelia set out to develop a range of high-quality SPF products, all made in Ireland, that were affordable and effective while sitting comfortably on the skin. Following two years of dedicated research and product development, Solas Skin launches with three core products:
Solas Sun SPF 50 Hydrating Face Cream, 50mls, RRP €34.99
Your daily SPF essential, this fragrance-free, lightweight formula delivers fast-absorbing hydration with broad spectrum protection while sitting comfortably on the skin with no telltale white cast. With a precision tip applicator, it’s the perfect start to your morning skincare regime, whether under makeup or on a bare complexion.
Solas Kiss SPF 50 Hydrating Lip Balm, 12mls, RRP €16.99
Soft, supple lips with all the protection of a broad spectrum SPF. The cooling metal applicator glides on the sheer, fragrance-free formula which delivers six hours of hydration with no sticky residue.
Solas Spritz SPF 50 (launching in June) and SPF 30 Hydrating Face Mist, 80mls, RRP €32.99
This lightweight, non-greasy, water-resistant formula offers broad spectrum protection and four hours of moisturisation. Suitable to apply over makeup, this versatile spritz is translucent on the skin, providing a quick and easy way to top up your sun protection throughout the day.
