Here comes the bride….
The first and perhaps most essential step in prepping skin pre-wedding is managing your expectations. It is, of course, completely valid to want to feel beautiful and confident on your wedding day, but your skin will always have texture and pores, this is a fact of life. . Accepting that, first and foremost, will make creating an efficacious and realistic skin-care plan a whole lot easier, particularly if you are budget conscious. It will also make it seem more realistic to continue long term once the wedding album has been created and you return from honeymoon. Once you get the pre wedding glow you may as well maintain it in our humble opinion. Now pleases note that you can use this for pretty much any big event including big birthdays and maybe even an awrds night.
We had to ask one of Ireland’s best skin experts and educators with multi award winning brand Skin Formulas Emma. She is a leader in skincare and an experienced skin therapist. We asked her expert opinion on bridal skin and here she answers your questions for the pre-event perfection.

6-9 months out is ideal but with a good home-care and treatment plan positive results can be achieved in 3 months.
What is the best product to get your skin glowing ?
The right exfoliator to help turn over the dead cells and help bring back the lustre to the skin. I highly recommend the Skin Formulas Mask Exfoliator as it has a blend of AHA’s that works on a multitude of skin concerns.
Are products or treatments more important?
My motto is that we are the result of our daily habits. What you do daily is absolutely key.
What is your most important skin care tip for someone getting married?
Establish a skin care routine that is appropriate for your skin type and concerns. On the days leading up to the wedding focus on skin hydration and don’t dabble in products you’ve never used before!
Aside from skincare, is there a particular tool you would recommend to brides for skincare?
I think getting some light therapy is really beneficial but even the likes of a gua sha stone for home use is brilliant to encourage blood flow and to de-puff the eyes.
What’s the best skin prep for wearing a backless or sleeveless dress?
Exfoliate the entire body using a scrub and apply a moisturiser daily. If you suffer with breakouts on your back get some salicylic wash into your routine. For keratosis pilaris on the backs of your arms our Vit C serum can be used to reduce the inflammation.
What are the best ways to hydrate winter skin and the best way to prep skin specifically for winter weddings?
Having monthly hydrating treatments. Support results with a soothing and hydrating cleanser such as Oil & Milk and use a multi molecular weight Hyaluronic acid serum that also encourages your own production of hyaluronic. Our skin gets quite sluggish in winter so regular exfoliation is important.

Regular Skin Formulas lactic peels would be ideal to help encourage hydration on a cellular level. Irish skin loves lactic. It’s gentle but gets results instantly.
It’s a day before the wedding and someone gets a pimple (like in My Big Fat Greek Wedding), what do you recommend doing?
Nightmare! I think it’s about managing the skin in the days leading up to the wedding. Using prebiotics like Skin Formulas CLEAR will help reduce the bad bacteria and regulate oil. It’s also brilliant as a spot treatment and will reduce redness and inflammation.
During the final weeks leading up to your wedding day, you should avoid trying any new products or treatments in order to avoid an irritation or flare-up.
