Veuve Clicquot Yellow Label is the House’s signature champagne, balancing all four dimensions defining the Veuve Clicquot style: freshness, strength, aromatic richness and silkiness. The exquisite blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Meunier unveils an opulent bouquet of white and yellow fruits, accented with delicate citrus notes, rich pastry aromas, and a subtle hint of dried fruit. The perfect accompaniment to many delicious food pairings like pan fried scallops, white fish, shrimp salads and slow cooked lamb.
In 1818, Madame Clicquot created the first known blended rosé champagne, unleashing the vivacity and explosive fruit aromas that continue to delight wine-lovers’ palates today. Veuve Clicquot Rosé is the result of a blending of grapes from 50 to 60 different crus, and is composed of up to 45% reserve wines. The cuvée is based on the traditional Yellow Label blend and completed with Pinot Noir red wine. The appearance is luminous, with rosé highlights and the nose is generous and fine, initially dominated by aromas of fresh red fruit (raspberry, wild strawberry, cherry, blackberry), evolving towards notes of dried fruit and pastry: almond, apricot, brioche. On the palate, the opening is fresh, then gives way to a fruity harmony. The wine is gourmand, full-bodied and tastes like a delicacy.
Madame Clicquot was born in 1777 in Champagne and widowed at the age of just 27. In an era when women were excluded from the business world, she dared to assume the head of the company founded by her father-in-law in 1772. Her creativity and lust for innovation led to many firsts in Champagne: the first known vintage champagne; the invention of the riddling table; the first known blended rosé champagne. These revolutionised champagne making and became the basis of modern champagne production. Madame Clicquot made her name into a brand of excellence the world over and her contributions earned her the nickname of “La Grande Dame of Champagne”.
