Waterford-based Deirdre Adams, the founder of Irish pyjama company JimJams.ie has announced details of her collaboration with  #projecthrive a social empowerment programme for vulnerable women run by her Indian-based manufacturing partners.

 

Deirdre, a former lawyer says, “Social justice, social impact and social empowerment are values that are deeply important to me. I have travelled   to  India with my daughters to seek out manufacturing partners that also hold these values. I am delighted to now share that at JimJams we have collaborated with our social impact partners in India to support a sustainable commercial manufacturing model, which provides training and ethical employment to vulnerable local women equipping them with a  means to earn a living. The manufacturing process is socially and environmentally responsible providing  safe, dignified and sustainable employment supporting local communities.”
 
“This social empowerment programme in Dehli provides training and employment opportunities for vulnerable women who would otherwise remain trapped in abject poverty. They also develop artisan community partnerships which expand the reach of the social impact to rural communities. 
 
Our second manufacturing partners are fair trade and ethical manufacturers based in Jaipur. They are members of the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and of the Fair Trade Federation in the US.  All manufacturing is in-house using fair labour standards.
