A brand-new Issey Miyake fragrance, Lumière d’Issey is a vibrant homage to the unseen energy that inspires and unites. As the fragrance unfolds, it recounts the story of dawn’s light breaking through for the very first time.
Lumière d’Issey is a sensual eau de parfum that celebrates life, optimism, and hope. The bottle reflects exceptional technical artistry, in which transparency and structure converge, and light becomes substance. A visual poem choreographed in light. Light, the raw material
For Lumière d’Issey, light becomes tangible. This sensual and unforgettable amber floral fragrance envelops the wearer with a renewed sense of optimism. And with good reason: perfumers Fabrice Pellegrin and Marie Salamagne composed this scent as one might sculpt a sunbeam.
“We wanted to translate the essence of light into a new medium,” explains Fabrice Pellegrin. “A sensation able to be both vivid and embracing, flowing through every facet of the composition like a unifying thread,” adds Marie Salamagne. She continues: “True to the spirit of Issey Miyake, we pursued a refined sensibility, seeking balance, harmony, and motion.
“Light is, by nature, elusive and ever-changing. To give a sense of it, we selected and worked with materials that deliver a range of emotional impressions. Yet we wanted its structure – that streak of light – to remain visible. In Lumière d’Issey, it flows through the elements and emotions, never static, like a breath of clarity,” says Fabrice Pellegrin, perfumer.
At the top, the juicy brightness of 100% natural green mandarin is enlivened by the effervescent purity of neroli. This sun-drenched pairing unveils a sparkling, radiant freshness.
“The aim was to evoke a smile right from the first hint,” notes Pellegrin. “When I inhale it, I instantly sense the Mediterranean sunlight that fills it.” This smile blossoms in the heart with a shimmering halo accord of orange blossom, also 100% natural. It is elevated by freesia accord and white musk accord. The former brings breath, casting its light in a feminine dimension; the latter lends a silky, velvety texture, comforting and enveloping like the break of day. This radiant journey culminates in a pistachio wood accord “that enhances the allure, like an irresistible call from the sun,” adds Pellegrin. Blended with the creamy warmth of sandalwood, its woody vibrations crescendo to their fullest. A novel sunlit trail: dazzlingly luminous, distinctly modern, and profoundly soothing.
To extend the wave of optimism it evokes, the Lumière d’Issey fragrance is offered as a complete routine. A moisturizing shower cream and moisturizing body lotion enrich its radiant wake. This daily ritual allows you to wrap yourself in inner light from early in the morning.
An exceptional bottle, born from light
Reflecting the power and mesmerising energy of light, the design of the Lumière d’Issey perfume bottle is clean, direct, and original. A sculptural equilibrium conceived by MIYAKE DESIGN STUDIO. Entirely unlike any previous forms, this bottle inaugurates a bold new creative direction. Its silhouette, carved in a precise arrangement of triangular facets, captures and refracts light like a kinetic prism. A geometric kaleidoscope brings the object to life. The transparent glass reveals a sun-kissed pink elixir – a delicate allusion to morning’s gentleness. The triangle, emblematic of that cult design, is unmistakably echoed in its signature contours.
The cardboard case also plays with light. Silver triangles scattered over a white backdrop generate an effect of poetic diffraction. It is as though the light from the bottle itself were radiating through the packaging. This technical achievement elevates the object to a design artefact. A form both aesthetic and tactile, sensual, and iconic. Just like light itself.
At Issey Miyake, light rhymes with transparency
The Lumière d’Issey formula, crafted in France, is certified vegan. Comprising 90% naturally derived ingredients, it features green mandarin – 100% natural, organic, and responsibly sourced in Italy – and sandalwood, also 100% natural, harvested in sustainably managed forests in Australia (certified origin). The musk is created from an upcycled molecule derived from the paper industry. The alcohol used in the fragrance is likewise 100% natural and exclusively French in origin.
The Lumière d’Issey bottle contains 15% recycled glass. A minimalist symbol, it maintains exceptional clarity and brilliance.
As part of a more conscious production approach, the Lumière d’Issey bottles in 30ml, 50ml and 100ml formats are refillable and built to last. Simply unscrew the spray nozzle and screw on the new refill to fill the bottle. It stops automatically once full. Using one 50ml bottle and one 150ml refill instead of four 50ml bottles results in:

The campaign, a bright promise
From darkness emerges light. The gentle warmth of natural light rising above the horizon – a symbol of optimism and hope. To express this vision, the campaign was entrusted to Marcus Tomlinson, the acclaimed British director and photographer who previously collaborated on Le Sel d’Issey. For Lumière d’Issey, he has crafted a film brimming with softness and contrast.
The night slowly dissipates, pierced by shafts of light. Dawn finally breaks, and with its first rays, a form begins to emerge: the bottle, still only faintly discernible, appearing to cradle the original light. It then glows from within, radiating across the screen. Its light no longer simply penetrates the darkness: it erupts from the fragrance, refracted through its geometric facets and multiplied endlessly, like a kaleidoscope of emotions. The bottle becomes a prism, projecting a new vision of optimism.
