Meaghers Pharmacy Group has teamed up with the charity Hygiene Hub to help people donate hygiene products to those in need.
As part of the partnership, there will be a Hygiene Hub drop-off point in each of the 10 Meaghers Pharmacy stores across Dublin.
The 10 Meaghers stores are located at Baggot Street, Barrow Street, Bhagwans Ballinteer, Castletymon, Churchtown, Glenview, Kinvara, the Mater Hospital, Ranelagh Village and Sandford Road.
Members of the public will be able to donate a range of unopened and unused hygiene products such as dental products, deodorants, body wash, nappies, baby wipes, razors, shaving foam, and shampoo.
Hygiene Hub will then distribute the products to its community partners, including a mix of organisations, charities and schools. The charity is currently working with 100 partners across the country.
A registered charity, Hygiene Hub was set up to help those in hygiene poverty, which is not being able to afford many of the everyday hygiene and personal care products most of us take for granted. The reality of low income is that it restricts people’s options, leaving people caught between being able to heat homes, pay rent, eat or be clean.
The charity is running a #ItsInTheBag campaign until December 15th. The campaign aims to deliver bags filled with essential hygiene items to those in need across Ireland ahead of Christmas.
Oonagh O’Hagan, Managing Director of Meaghers Pharmacy Group, said:
“We are proud to be partnering with Hygiene Hub, supporting them with the expansion of its network of drop-off points for people to donate unused and unopened hygiene products. At Meaghers, we are committed to improving the quality of life in the communities they work in, to create a more positive future, which Hygiene Hub firmly delivers. We encourage everyone who is able to support this important initiative by donating products to any of our stores.”
Ciára Dalton, co-founder and Head of Partnerships Hygiene Hub said:
“Our partnership with Meaghers is so important as not only are they our 100th+ drop off point, it also demonstrates one of Ireland’s leading retailers is recognising the impacts of Hygiene Poverty and committing to help address it. It will see our network of drop-off points increase and we encourage everyone who is able, to consider donating relevant products at their local Meaghers store.”
