Popular health food cafe, Naturally Nourished, has announced it is opening a new outlet in Cork City Centre. Currently Naturally Nourished operate a cafe in City Gate Park.
The new outlet will be located at JCD Group’s new scheme in Penrose Dock. Naturally Nourished will occupy the 2,500 sq ft café in the scheme which is scheduled to open next June. The Cork company specialise in salads, healthy hot dishes, sandwiches and healthy treats, all made in house, with an emphasis on using the best possible ingredients sourced locally ensuring the highest quality and freshest flavour. There will also be an extensive south facing outdoor seating area at the entrance to the plaza in Penrose Dock.
Yvonne Whitley of Naturally Nourished says: “Our ambition for Naturally Nourished at Penrose Dock is to create a vibrant fresh atmosphere to complement our healthy, delicious food offerings, as well as our speciality organic coffee offering. We have seen first-hand the demand from office occupiers in City Gate Park for a high quality food offering and how it will assist new companies moving to Penrose Dock attract the best talent. We also plan to have an extensive take home offering available to our customers and given the great location on the main pedestrian route to the train station, this we believe will prove very popular.”
The Penrose Dock development forms a key part of the evolution of Cork’s Docklands into a thriving new economic district centred around the Train and Bus Stations. In particular the North Quays located at the eastern entrance to the city will be the cornerstone of a rejuvenated area, as it brings balance and adds momentum to the progress made in recent years on the South Quays, with One Albert Quay and Navigation Square. The new Dean Hotel which is expected to open next year will be a welcome addition to the area.

Construction is well advanced on 250,000 sq. ft. of office space at Penrose Dock with several key tenants already committed, including Grant Thornton. Negotiations are at an advanced stage with a number of other potential tenants, which JCD hope to be in a position to announce shortly.
Construction of Penrose Dock continues apace, with the first tenants due to take up occupancy in June 2020.
