Between air and earth is a powerful notion. Contrasting fragility and strength, Founder Kilian Hennessy explores this concept for his latest olfactive journey, Musk Butterfly.
An ode to the Middle East, a new white musk fragrance, has been the desire of many KILIAN PARIS consumers.
Stirring up overtones of Giacomo Puccini’s masterpiece Madame Butterfly, Kilian Hennessy muses, “The phonetic aspect of the name echo’s the opera.” As with the performance that features three stirring acts, Musk Butterfly offers a metamorphosis from beginning to end.
An airy opening resembles the fragility of a butterfly’s wings. Just as the scales overlap, fluttering together with every beat of the wing, two elements collide. The effervesce of aldehyde meets a trio of sparkling rose – Damascena rose and rose super essence from Turkey and geranium from Madagascar.
At the heart, the floral notes intensify with absolute violet leaves sourced from Morocco. Ambrette absolute amplifies these notes sending a shiver of freshness through the senses. Drying down to the base, two new musk’s are revealed. Embodying the earth with irrefutable confidence, they offer a powdery yet powerful composition.
Masterfully balanced, the fragrance deepens even further with sandalwood, adding a subtle touch of sensuality to the scent.
Taking wearers on a fanciful flight that rises and falls, dancing in the wind of an ever-evolving bouquet, Musk Butterfly is undeniably a delicate yet bold creation.
