Panti Bliss and Lisa Connell were announced as hosts for the 2023 GALAS awards. Making a triumphant return following a hiatus since 2020, the night is a timely and uplifting celebration of those who have had a positive impact on the LGBTQ+ community. Tickets are now on sale for the awards, and people are urged to act fast and not miss out!
The awards are organised by the NXF, the National LGBT Federation in partnership with GCN, Ireland’s leading media outlet and information service for the LGBTQ+ community and will take place in The Round Room at the Mansion House on Saturday, 7th October.
As Ireland’s only LGBTQ+ awards programme, the GALAS acknowledge the effort made by individuals, organisations, and companies who work towards a better future for LGBTQ+ people in Ireland. This year, the awards will have 13 categories, from “Outstanding Company” and “Ally of the Year” to “Event of the Year”.
A night to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community
Speaking today, Chair of the NXF, Anna Nolan, said: “This year’s GALAS awards will be marking the contribution of individuals, companies and organisations in making Ireland, and the world, a better place for the LGBTQ+ community.”
“The GALAS is a celebratory event by the community, for the community. We were buoyed by the huge show of support for the community over Pride month, but this support and celebration has a place throughout the entire year.
“The night also serves as a much needed celebration of LGBTQ+ people in Ireland and beyond. In the face of increasing threats against the LGBTQ+ community in Ireland and abroad, it is more important than ever to uplift, support, and amplify those voices working so hard to spread love for the LGBTQ+ community. Celebration is at the core of the LGBTQ+ community and its history, and we want to continue that lengthy tradition.
