Award-winning photographer Anna Groniecka has brought a piece of Ireland to her hometown of Bytom with the exhibition “Kocham Cię jak Irlandię” (I Love You Like Ireland). The exhibition, held at the Palace in Miechowice and open through November, offers a personal and captivating view of Ireland, where Groniecka has made her home for the past 18 years.

Now based in West Cork, Groniecka is celebrated for her evocative images that capture Ireland’s spirit, from its iconic landscapes to the subtle charm of everyday life. This exhibition features both beloved Irish scenes and hidden gems, blending cultural snapshots with commentary that invites viewers to delve into Ireland’s history and traditions.

Reflecting on the exhibition, Groniecka shared, “This is my tribute to Ireland – a place that has given me so much. I want people to see the Ireland I know and love, its landscapes, its character, and its people.”

The opening event brought a touch of Irish culture to Bytom, with treats like Tayto crisps and Barry’s Tea. Adding a personal touch, Groniecka’s son, Ben Cullinane, performed part of the Irish national anthem in Gaelic, bringing a unique connection to the evening. This sense of authenticity runs through Groniecka’s work, capturing the humanity and warmth of her subjects.

The “Kocham Cię jak Irlandię” exhibition invites viewers to see Ireland through Groniecka’s lens, celebrating the landscapes and people of the Emerald Isle. The show is open to the public at the Palace in Miechowice until 25th November 2024.
