Donna O’Driscoll, the owner of Roots Kitchen, has transformed her boutique catering company in Cork City into a thriving business by sourcing local ingredients and offering tailored, innovative menus that emphasise simplicity and flavour. Donna notes, “We always come up with fresh new ideas to keep it exciting. We know how to bring out the best flavour in what we cook.”

Initially starting as an online lunch business, Donna grew Roots Kitchen into a successful corporate catering service, securing contracts with major tech companies through consistency and authenticity.

Despite personal challenges, including the pandemic, she adapted her offerings and maintained brand strength. “We continued to stay open and changed our offering to tapas and movie night boxes. Although we only broke even then, what it did for our brand was outstanding,” she recalls.

With over 20 years of experience, Roots Kitchen excels in operating a zero-waste, customer-focused kitchen, demonstrating a strong commitment to local sourcing and supporting women in the industry. Donna mentors women chefs, promotes staff members, and provides flexible hours for working mothers. In recognition of her dedication, the Villa Maria Women of Vision Awards 2024, hosted by Hi Style, honoured her with the Culinary Excellence Award.

Clients praise Roots Kitchen’s professionalism and delicious offerings, contributing to continuous revenue growth and 100% client retention. Community involvement is integral to Roots Kitchen, with a focus on locally sourced ingredients for global clients. “Through this, I’m able to also give back to the local food community. Our clients love this concept,” Donna shares.
