Madrid Beginnings
Sandra’s story begins in the bustling heart of Madrid. Growing up as the middle child between two brothers, Sandra quickly learned to find her own voice and space. “Madrid was energetic and fast-paced,” she recalls, “which certainly shaped my determination and independence.” Sandra was a diligent student, somewhat shy, but driven by a deep curiosity about the world, a curiosity that sparked her lifelong passion for languages and different cultures.
Hospitality and Heart
Before padel came into her life, Sandra’s passion was deeply rooted in travel and hospitality. “Travel wasn’t just a hobby, it was my way of connecting deeply with different cultures,” she explains. Her vibrant hospitality career with Meliá Hotels International spanned 18 fulfilling years, rich in diverse experiences and valuable life lessons. “Serving others and creating memorable experiences always felt like a natural extension of who I was”.
From Running to Padel
Sandra’s athletic journey began long before her first padel game. She had already embraced running, moving swiftly from casual jogs to dedicated training, eventually completing a half marathon. “Running taught me discipline, endurance, and goal-setting,” she notes proudly. Transitioning to padel marked a fresh chapter — one filled with teamwork, camaraderie, and skill-based challenges. Currently, Sandra’s eyes are set on the Malaga Marathon in December 2025, proving her boundless energy and relentless ambition.

Sandra credits much of her resilience and adaptability to influential personal and professional relationships. Her close friends Laura and Daragh Jones, whom she fondly describes as her “Irish family,” played a pivotal role in her brave decision to move to Ireland at 45. Professionally, Sandra acknowledges mentors like Tamara Moreno and Jadwiga Surmiak, whose leadership and unwavering support significantly shaped her professional ethos. “They taught me to lead with empathy and curiosity,” Sandra emphasises.

The team-oriented nature of padel enhanced her communication skills and fostered meaningful friendships. “Padel has taught me that growth isn’t just personal—it thrives in a community,” she shares enthusiastically. Her deep connection with friend Michelle O’Meara, developed through their shared love for the sport, exemplifies the social enrichment padel has brought to her life.
