The Counting House, former Beamish & Crawford site, opened it’s doors to the public for the first time last weekend
Over the weekend, benchspace, Cork Craft & Design, Sample-Studios and Shandon Art Studios joined forces to present STAMP Festival of Creativity – a jam-packed weekend that welcomed over 4000 visitors, featured 60+ creatives, and hosted of over 50 art, design and craft events, 3 exhibitions, all in 1 extraordinary venue.
The festival showcased The Counting House, South Main Street, which was opened to the public for the first time since the completion in 2021 of a €30m regeneration project.
Speaking after the festival, Aoibhie McCarthy, Artistic Director at Sample-Studios commented:
“We’re blown away by the positive response from over 4000 visitors over the weekend. Everyone we spoke to commented on the need for a space like this- a permanent central creative hub and a place where our artists can make and present ambitious work. We’ve made our case – when we have a space, look what we can do for the city and it’s people. We’re grateful to our venue partners BAM and funders Cork City Council, The Arts Council of Ireland and Creative Ireland”
