Circular fashion brand LilyMais has created a range of unique sustainable swimrobes, handmade in West Kerry.

Handcrafted and expertly cut, using recycled towels and vibrant end-of-line fabrics, as well as organic and recycled polyester threads, each robe is created keeping a low carbon footprint in mind.

Each distinctive swimrobe is entirely unique from the bright colourways to the pattern on the hood. From tonal pieces to rainbow-brights, bold stripes and pastel tones, it’s easy to spot a LilyMais robe! Priced at €150, LilyMais swimrobes are cosy and oversized, with large pockets to keep your belongings – the perfect partner for a beach day or a dip in the cold Atlantic.

The concept was born amidst a global pandemic when founder Frances Fogarty found solace in her daily swims on the beaches of West Kerry. It soon became apparent that sea-swimming was a growing trend and one that was here to stay. While a number of brands began popping up and selling swimming paraphernalia, Frances was inspired to get involved.

The former restaurateur and fashion graduate had been looking for a way to make her mark on the fashion industry for some time but was reluctant to add to the already overwhelming environmental impact caused by the fashion trade.

In the summer of 2021, Fogarty began creating the distinctive robes using sustainable fabrics, for her fellow swimmers in West Kerry. The colourful towelling swimrobes soon developed a cult following amongst keen sea swimmers across the country and Frances, along with her husband Feargal, decided to take the business online. Converting their shed into a studio, the multicoloured swimrobes are now making their way across the globe with customers as far afield as Canada, Australia and California.

LilyMais has partnered with the RNLI, with a percentage from each sale going directly to the charity.
