Jack Dunn was named the Irish Hotels Federation’s Cork Branch Employee of the Year 2019, in the IHF’s annual initiative to celebrate and recognise exceptional employees within the hospitality sector.

The Blue Haven and Jack are celebrating after Jack received overall employee of the year for Cork with the Irish Hotel Federation. The event took place last Wednesday the 19th February in The River Lee Hotel where a group of nominated finalists representing hotels in Cork enjoyed a gala lunch, followed by the awards ceremony. It was announced that Jack had won the employee of the year 2019 for his amazing customer care, hard work, going the extra mile, dedication and attention to detail. Jack epitomises what it means to provide stellar customer service. He is conscientious, diligent and meticulous in his role while remaining the friendly face and personality that customers and guests love to be around. A recent situation that sums up Jacks commitment to providing the most exceptional customer service is where an elderly American couple checked in for a stay at The Blue Haven last November. Having got chatting during his shift, the couple realised that they had left their passports and other documents behind in their room safe at their hotel in Dublin where they stayed the previous night. Jack then informed the couple that he finished at 12 that same night and he would drive to Dublin to collect their passports and documents to ensure their safe return. Jack finished his shift and drove from Kinsale to Dublin to retrieve the guest’s documents and returned to Cork that same night. The couple were ecstatic at the gesture and were so grateful to Jack for his act of kindness. This is just one example of his fantastic customer care and kind nature. Jack started as a Manager in Hamlets Bar in 2018 (Blue Haven’s sister property) and now is a Manager in the Blue Haven Hotel. Blue Haven Director, Ciaran Fitzgerald said: “We are delighted for Jack winning this amazing award for his incredible customer care, hard work and dedication here at The Blue Haven. It is fantastic for him to be recognised by the Irish Hotel Federation and achieve this prestigious award.

We have an amazing team of people who work so hard every day to give all our customers a unique experience each time they visit. I’d like to say a big thank you to our incredible team and especially Jack”.
