The reputation for excellent hospitality continues as a new era begins for The Manor House at Killashee following the completion of a major refurbishment of the original house. This marks a significant milestone of the €5 million investment by FBD Hotels & Resorts into Killashee since they bought the hotel in April 2022. The original house which dates back to 1861, was home to the St. Leger Moore family for many years and was renowned for its warm hospitality and legendary parties.
This tradition continues as The Manor House welcomes a new generation of private and corporate guests. A fine example of Victorian architecture, this magnificent Manor House retains many of its authentic features with its separate entrance leading to The Parlour and to The Drawing Room and The Great Hall, together with 12 suites and its own private garden. The Manor House is perfectly suited to intimate gatherings of 40 up to 80 guests for weddings, conferences and seminars, complementing the contemporary hotel as an exclusive venue in its own right.
Each of the 12 suites tell the captivating story of Killashee from its past as a Victorian hunting lodge and as it is today. Lavishly furnished with classically styled furniture, many with freestanding antique baths, each has its own unique character and rich history that echoes within the walls. The magic of the enchanting gardens filled with native flora and fauna can be seen through the windows or while exploring the 55 acres estate.
The woodlands and gardens are home to a myriad of exotic and native flowers and trees. Camellia, Bluebell, Peony and Aster are some of the flowers scattered among the Willow and Laurel trees which are homes for the Starling, Skylark and Siskin and the other birds that visit. Collectively these have inspired names of the suites at The Manor House alongside The Bell Tower after the historic signature structure, The Florence named after Richard St. Leger Moore’s beloved sister for whom the Killashee Estate was their playground, and The Robertson Suite which pays homage to the original gardener who created the first gardens at Killashee.
Commenting on the completion of The Manor House, Ger Alley, General Manager Killashee said; “The refurbishment of The Manor House represents a pivotal milestone in FBD Hotels & Resorts’ €5 million investment into Killashee, further enhancing the guest experience and solidifying our commitment to excellence. Since April 2022, Killashee has undergone a series of transformative developments, beginning with extensive refurbishments to the main hotel areas, restaurants, and bedrooms. This has been followed by significant upgrades to our conference and wedding facilities, as well as The Spa. Earlier this year, we proudly opened The Wild Cherry Café at the Leisure Centre, and the completion of our all-weather football pitch marks yet another enhancement to our expansive offerings.
The Manor House, with its timeless elegance and rich heritage, now stands as a premier venue, harmoniously blending classical charm with the modern sophistication of our contemporary hotel. As a distinctive destination, it serves as a remarkable setting for exclusive events, weddings, and gatherings, adding a new dimension to the Killashee experience. Building on our recent Gold Award from Green Hospitality, all refurbishment efforts at Killashee have been meticulously executed in alignment with our commitment to our ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) policy. Sustainability remains at the heart of our operations, and each phase of the refurbishment was carried out with a focus on minimizing environmental impact while enhancing energy efficiency and reducing waste.”
