The Perfect Dublin Pint with The Stapleton Pub
If you’re looking for The Perfect Dublin Pint this Summer, add The Stapleton Pub to your List
There’s something people are always searching for in Dublin during the summer months: a proper Irish pub experience. Somewhere relaxed but full of atmosphere, where the Guinness is poured right, the music is good, and whether the sun is shining or the rain inevitably rolls in, it still feels exactly where you want to be.
Tucked beneath the Georgian surrounds of Powerscourt House on South William Street, The Stapleton Pub has quickly become just that.
Located on the lower ground floor of The Stapleton, the newly opened pub offers a more traditional take on the modern Dublin bar experience, cosy, welcoming and built around the simple pleasures of good pints, easy conversation and live music.
Whether you’re visiting Dublin for the weekend, planning a summer catch-up with friends, or simply looking for your new go-to pint spot in the city, add The Stapleton Pub to your list.
On brighter summer days, guests can settle outside in the heart of Dublin city centre and soak up the atmosphere of South William Street with a pint in hand. And when the weather turns to a more familiar Irish summer setting, The Stapleton Pub comes into its own indoors too, with low lighting, intimate snugs and a warm, laid-back atmosphere designed for lingering a little longer.
The drinks offering keeps things straightforward in the best possible way. Guinness is poured properly, alongside beers on tap, including Heineken and Asahi, with a concise selection of spirits and classic serves. There’s no overcomplication, just a bar that focuses on doing the basics exceptionally well.
Throughout the space, cosy snugs create corners for groups to settle into, all intentionally kept walk-in only, reinforcing the pub’s relaxed and spontaneous feel. Hidden just behind the bar, one more discreet snug has already started becoming something of a talking point among regulars.
Adding to the atmosphere throughout the summer months, traditional Irish music sessions now take place weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, bringing an authentic rhythm to the pub and creating the kind of atmosphere visitors hope to stumble upon in Dublin, but rarely find naturally.
Current live music sessions include:
Thursdays: 8pm – 10pm
Fridays: 7:30pm – 10pm
Saturdays: 7:30pm – 10pm
Sundays: 7:30pm – 9:30pm
Accessible via its own external entrance and connected internally to the main Stapleton bar above, the pub feels tucked away yet central, offering a welcome escape from the pace of the city overhead.
The Stapleton itself takes inspiration from Michael Stapleton, one of Georgian Dublin’s master craftsmen, with subtle nods to the building’s heritage woven throughout the design. Across three levels, the venue offers something different on each floor, from the lively main bar to the softer cocktail setting upstairs in The Lounge. But downstairs in The Stapleton Pub, the focus remains firmly on familiarity, comfort and the kind of understated atmosphere that never tries too hard.
As General Manager David Young explains:
“We wanted to create a pub that feels genuinely Dublin. Somewhere you can pop in whether you’re meeting friends, showing visitors around the city, or simply looking for a great pint and good atmosphere. Especially over summer, we wanted it to feel relaxed, welcoming and easy, somewhere people naturally want to spend time.”
Current opening hours are as follows (subject to change):
Monday to Wednesday from 4pm to 11:30pm;
Thursday from 4pm to 12:30am;
Friday and Saturday from 1pm to 2:30am;
and Sunday from 1pm to 12:30am.
