Luxury Irish skincare brand The Skin Diary, founded by Dr Clare Kiely from Co. Mayo, has unveiled its latest innovation Pro-Helix C Collagen Peptide Brightening Serum (RRP:€115.00) (patent pending), developed to go beyond brightening and target multiple pathways associated with visible skin ageing.
The name Pro-Helix C comes from Vitamin C’s essential role in stabilising collagen’s characteristic triple-helix structure, reflecting the product’s focus on the structural biology of the skin rather than radiance alone.
Pro-Helix C is designed to deliver brighter, firmer and more resilient-looking skin, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Going beyond the traditional brightening and antioxidant benefits associated with Vitamin C, the multi-pathway formula has been developed to support collagen maturation and the skin’s wider structural matrix, while helping to protect it against oxidative stress and degradation. The result is a formula that targets multiple pathways associated with visible skin ageing, combining immediate radiance with longer-term improvements in the appearance of firmness, fine lines and wrinkles.
With a lightweight, fast-absorbing milky texture, Pro-Helix C is designed to layer seamlessly beneath sunscreen and make-up while immediately enhancing visible radiance and luminosity.
Independent clinical testing of Pro-Helix C showed:
- A reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles from Day 7
- An immediate boost to skin radiance, maintained at 28 days
- Dermatologically approved and suitable for sensitive skin
- Non-comedogenic
The results were reflected in the brand’s four-week consumer trial, where:
- 94% showed clinically proven brighter skin within 7 days [1]
- 84% showed a clinically proven visible reduction in fine lines and wrinkles at 8 weeks [2]
- 87% agreed skin appeared firmer and more plump after use [3]
- 73% agreed they would switch from their current vitamin C serum [3]
In an independent biopsy study led by Professor Abigail Langton and her research team at the University of Manchester Skin Ageing Department, Pro-Helix C produced a statistically significant increase in fibrillin, a protein network that underpins skin resilience and elasticity.
Like The Skin Diary’s existing hero formulations Night Repair Therapy and Age Defence Moisturising Day Cream, Pro-Helix C has been put through the brand’s Cell-to-Surface™ testing standard, examining its performance at three levels: at the cell, measured on the skin’s surface and perceived in the mirror through the experience of people using the product.
Speaking about the launch, Dr Clare said: “Irish skin is something I’m particularly passionate about. We tend to have fairer skin types, and many of my Irish patients are very conscious of pigmentation, premature ageing and maintaining healthy, resilient skin as they get older.
With Pro-Helix C, we started with the biology of ageing skin, mapping the pathways involved in collagen and structural decline, then selecting a highly stable, well-researched form of Vitamin C and pairing it with complementary actives designed to work across those same pathways. The result is a next-generation Vitamin C serum that addresses skin structure while also delivering what people want to see in the mirror: brighter, firmer-looking skin and fewer visible fine lines and wrinkles.”
Vitamin C has long been recognised in skincare for its antioxidant benefits, ability to boost radiance and visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles. In one simple step, Pro-Helix C combines 15% THDA vitamin C, a 4.5% dual-peptide complex and 0.5% acetyl zingerone in a multi-pathway formula designed to support the skin’s extracellular matrix. Working synergistically, the complex supports collagen maturation and ECM signalling, while helping defend the matrix against oxidative stress and degradation for brighter, firmer, more resilient-looking skin.
Pro-Helix C is designed for morning use, applied evenly across the face before sunscreen, alongside Age Defence Moisturising Day Cream SPF 50, which combines advanced sun protection with DNA repair enzymes and antioxidants to help protect against UV damage, oxidative stress and premature skin ageing. In the evening, Night Repair Therapy Cream uses an advanced retinyl ester system to support skin renewal and boost collagen and elastic fibres, helping to improve the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and skin firmness.
