Are products supplied to students, or do they need to bring their own makeup?

When you sign up for the VanityX course there is an option for a starter kit full of leading brands. We do have a communal kit that students have the use of throughout their course but we encourage students to build on their own kits.

What is the best advice you’d give to someone who wants to start out as a freelancer?

I encourage students to keep their current job and to gain as much experience to build their portfolio before leaping into the world of freelance. It can be very scary to take that step but with plenty of practice and experience behind you, it will build your confidence and you will thrive in this industry.

As part of the course, students are given the chance to participate in a photo shoot. What can people expect from this day?

Photoshoots are my personal favourite days, these days give the students the chance to show off the skills they have learned throughout the course while giving them a chance to be creative and fun with their looks.

For people who think they would be interested in taking part but aren’t quite sure, does VanityX offer any shorter courses?

We offer a range of courses, from part time courses done over 15 weeks to full time courses over 8 months depending on the student’s interests we can help find a course that can be more suited to them. There is also the option of attending a masterclass where they could meet the tutors and see first-hand whether they would like to work in the industry.

If students choose to undertake the ITEC exam, what can they expect?

The ITEC Exam is more in-depth being a higher qualification, but with the knowledge and training, you will receive during your time at VanityX it makes this easier to accomplish.

What’s the best thing about doing a makeup course with VanityX? What makes the Academy unique?

VanityX has the highest standard of training, bringing you back to basics and up to current trends so you are more than ready to enter the industry. My personal favourite thing about VanityX is we never lose contact with our students after they leave the college. We offer work experience, paid work and photoshoots to all our past and present students. It is a proud moment for us as tutors to see our students thrive in this industry.
