Your Hospital Bag was founded by Laura, wife, mama, nurse, midwife and ex-patient.  The idea evolved from her own hospital experience in 2020. Laura sometimes found that packing her hospital bag could be overwhelming and often didn’t know what to take with her. She found when packing a bag last minute that something was quite often forgotten! When shopping online for her hospital bag Laura found it amazing that any items aimed at a hospital admission lacked a certain something and that luxury went out the window.  

 Laura hopes that by creating a luxury hospital bag it will help alleviate stress for someone with an upcoming hospital admission. Each bag has been carefully thought about and has been curated with products that she has tried and tested and made her journey a little bit easier. 

Professionally, Laura started within nursing and has been a nurse for the past 15 years, working as a midwife during that time too.  Laura is a mother and a proud mum to four small boys. In 2020 their world was turned upside down when during the highest level of pandemic restrictions and with a four-month-old at home she got the news that she had breast cancer. It would be fair to say that much of that time was a blur. Still, Laura can remember the fear and the fatigue but also the great love that enveloped her from family and friends. Over the course of the next year, she underwent multiple surgeries, two rounds of chemotherapy and 28 sessions of radiotherapy. 

 

Laura didn’t stop being a mum, wife, daughter, grand-daughter, sister and friend during this time and all these things had to find space too. Thankfully, Laura is now all clear and gets to move forward with her life, with new ambition and focus on the things that are important, love, kindness and paying everything forward. 

Laura set up “Your hospital Bag” with that in mind. She is proud of what they have created and that these gifts are an expression of love and thoughtfulness. She is a strong advocator for breast health and for all forms of health utilising her social media to share reliable and evidence-based advice in this area. ‘If I can help make anyone’s life easier I will and continue to strive to do so.
