The new packaging is expected to reduce the company’s virgin plastic use by 6% in total weight versus the old wrapper KIND® sources recycled plastic using a “mass balance” methodology, whereby recycled plastic is purchased at an agreed-upon volume and mixed with virgin or new plastic during the manufacturing process. This means that although the recycled content per bar wrapper may vary, overall, KIND® is contributing to circularity through the sourcing of recycled plastic.*
KIND® is more than just a name. It’s a commitment: to making snack bars that don’t compromise. The new packaging design is not only helping to reduce the amount of virgin plastic in the KIND® supply chain but also makes it easy for consumers to dispose of. In Ireland, the wrapper can be put directly in your green bin, which will help reduce waste and lessen the environmental impact. KIND® has worked alongside Repak®, an environmental non-profit organisation, to ensure the new packaging meets high standards of sustainability and can be recycled easily.
For the Republic of Ireland market, we worked with Repak® to determine that this wrapper is eligible for kerbside recycling in the Republic of Ireland.
“We are thrilled to launch our new recyclable wrapper, which is a significant step on our packaging innovation journey,” said Sean Mullen of KIND®.
“Making delicious and nutritious snacks that are also convenient is at the core of what we do – and doing that in a way which reduces our environmental impact is a top priority. With this new packaging, fans of KIND® bars in Ireland are now able to recycle their wrappers from home.
“We know we still have a way to go, and as a business, we will continue to explore new technologies that might improve our packaging both now and in the future.”
KIND® has always been committed to using the best ingredients in its products, ensuring each bar is both delicious and nutritious. Plus, the new packaging will be fully available in stores nationwide from August 2023. https://www.KINDsnacks.ie/
